It features built in WiFi, enabling you to stream images, videos and music to the device. More importantly though, it features a 7.6-inch OLED display that can achieve a 16:9 aspect ration and 800×480 resolution. There’s 2GB of built-in memory and it can pull shots directly from Flickr.

About 2 weeks ago, I pulled the trigger and get a Nikon D80. NOW, curse you Karma, Nikon brings out the D90. That's one better! This one seriously goes to 11.

Finally something to get excited about in the land of cameras. The long-rumored Nikon D90 is the world’s first digital SLR camera to do HD video recording. That’s right, in addition to taking beautiful photos, you’ll now be able to flip a switch to record 720p/24fps HD movie clips directly to your SD card. At the heart of the D90 is a powerful CMOS image sensor and 12.3 effective megapixels, supported by Nikon’s Scene Recognition and Face Detection systems, a broad ISO range (200 to 3200), and a 3-inch high-resolution LCD screen with Live View shooting mode. The D90 will be available as a body only ($1,000) or with a new AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens ($1,300).

Taking voyeurism into the 21st century! The Draganfly X6 it the latest Bond-esque sky spy.

The Draganfly series of heli cams have been impressive, but the just announced X6 is freaking amazing. The triple-tipped carbon fiber body has two carbon rotors on each end. The design allows it to move in all directions rapidly, provide enough control to zip around indoors yet resist up to 18 miles per hour of wind.

The oil-dampening vibration killing mount can be loaded with an HD camera, night vision camera, still camera, low light camera or thermal imaging camera. The machine also has GPS, which feeds positioning data into the remote control’s LCD. The X6 even can maintain flight if one of its 6 motors stops working. The battery can be charged in 30 minutes, yet can supply the device with 450 watts of power, which allows the machine to climb 23 feet per second, turn 90 degrees in the same time or do fly-bys at 30 MPH. I don’t know how much these cost, but I’m getting enough enjoyment out of watching the videos at Dragonfly’s site.

The Canon 50D is a great shot across the bow of competitors like Nikon. What ya got suckas?

Canon takes another leap forward in the dSLR arms race with the Canon EOS 50D ($1,400; October 2008). The 15-megapixel prosumer model is the company’s first to sport the new DIGIC 4 processor, promising features like peripheral illumination correction, ISO sensitivity of up to 12,800, a 3-inch, 920,000 dot LCD, Live View, a self-cleaning system, and more. Pair it with Canon’s new 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens ($700) and get shooting.

Most mobile phones don’t have optical zoom for a couple reasons. First, they take up a lot of space, and second, good optics can be expensive.

If you’re willing to give up one of the inconvieniences (the size), you can get this inexpensive zoom lens from Brando for the inexpensive price of $19USD from Brando in Hong Kong.

At that price, it probably won’t have the greatest optics, but that’s okay, since the iPhone’s camera isn’t even close to “high quality photographic equipment” either.
