Oh wait - no - it's the new Peugeot. I guess they got tired of making cars no one will buy. Now they are designing cars no one will build! MUCH better business plan guys!

The Peugeot design competition has yielded a lot of clever designs, from cars that can shape-shift, to one-seater personal transports, and cars with spheres for wheels. Now here’s the Peugeot Stylight by Ognyan Bozhilov of Bulgaria: a three-seater hybrid, mid-engine car with a heavy, sleek body reminiscent of old ’30s lead-sleds, if not for its pointed beak.

The Peugeot Stylight puts the driver in the center and has a big windshield and side-view windows for plenty of visibility. It’s also got spinning 10-spoke rims mounted under a glowing Peugeot logo. The Stylight only has one tail light, which is installed with responsive LED lights that brighten the harder you press the brakes.

Here is a real bizarre way for all you rich music lovers to fritter away your riches. Ask me why I don’t intend to reach out to the normal music freaks; well, they won’t have money enough to decapitate their only car with speakers all around. Hailing from Western Europe, this Dutch innovation has stemmed from a combination of inspirations. The maker was inspired by ‘God is a DJ’ and the car of our HOLY-POPE and he thus brought about this innovative car. Adorning aerodynamics to the core, the mobile DJ art car even houses two turn-tables along with a number of speakers. I am not certain whether the speakers affixed outside are all functional and we would have to go looking for a Dutch national to have the mystery resolved.

“Hublot’s very latest Big Bang, produced in a limited edition in association with the name of Ayrton Senna. On 18st October, the Swiss watchmaker will be presenting to the public the splendid Chronograph Split-Second with Power Reserve indicator, cloaked in black and adorned with Ayrton Senna’s signature in red and the Brazilian flag in green and yellow. A timekeeper that’s already a legend in the making.”

You are staring at the 2008 Fiat Fiorino Portofino. Fiat Professional asked customizer Vernagallo-Holiday and SALT to create a show car that looked like the Italian luxury beach buggies of the 1950s and 1960s. They took one of Fiat’s FIorino vans and created this. The car has wood laminate flooring and the interior was created using natural fibers treated with a special waterproofing. They say it can seat five (five beach bunnies perhaps) and the rear seat folds down for your nautical gear. It’s not known if the Fiat Fiorino Portofino will be produced as a regular car for the masses but it will be making the show rounds.

It’s called the Model S and will go on sale for about $60,000 in 2010.

The much anticipated announcement was given yesterday at Tesla’s San Carlos, California facility where Tesla addressed the press alongside California Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has a $100,000 Tesla Roadster on order. The plans to build the Model S in California came about by some sweet incentives from the state to keep the car maker’s manufacturing from moving to New Mexico.

Ever get tired of paying extra to pimp your ride? Wish you could do it with just a push of a button, or a sewing machine? Check out the GINA from BMW.

Concept cars give automotive designers a chance to let their imaginations run wild, often with outlandish results. But even by that measure, BMW has come up with something as strange as it is innovative — a shape-shifting car covered with fabric.

Instead of steel, aluminum or even carbon fiber, the GINA Light Visionary Model has a body of seamless fabric stretched over a movable metal frame that allows the driver to change its shape at will. The car — which actually runs and drives — is a styling design headed straight for the BMW Museum in Munich and so it will never see production, but building a practical car wasn’t the point.

“It is in the nature of such visions that they do not necessarily claim to be suitable for series production,” company officials said in unveiling the car Tuesday. “Rather, they are intended to steer creativity and research into new directions.”

Giving Bangle and his team that latitude to design so radical a car “helps to tap into formerly inconceivable, innovative potential” to push the boundaries of appearance and materials as well as functions and the manufacturing process, BMW says.

Bugs! I mean, Lexus! Lexus! So the new Lexus looks like it is straight from Starship Troopers 5, but it might just make it's way back from Planet P to your driveway!

Does one reach for a camera or a can of RAID when the Lexus Nuaero concept pulls into the driveway? Sure Jon Rådbrink’s design looks incredibly cool, fast and futuristic; but then again I’ve also spent the last few minutes looking over my shoulder to see if Sigourney Weaver was about to burst from the wall in a load lifter to do battle with it in my office. As it turns out, there’s a lot more to this design than just looks, and Rådbrink believes the car’s “low weight and large presence” will be the way premium cars could be manufactured in the future. Oh, and it’s loaded with tech, too.

To drive this catamaran-inspired luxury car, the driver would use a drive-by-wire steering pad and a completely customizable multi-point touch screen. Rådbrink contends that our hands are far more accurate for driving than our feet, so he’s eliminated pedals. Everything is controlled via the steering wheel. “Since the car is powered by electrical motors [found in each of the four wheels],” Rådbrink says, “there is no transmission and you break intuitively by pushing the steering wheel away from your body.”

The kicker is that this 14.5-ft. car is designed with lightweight materials meant to increase mileage and efficiency. How light is light? Try roughly the same weight as the diminutive SMART fortwo. “I believe that this design paradox of low weight and large presence could be the way we’ll define premium in the future,” Rådbrink said. Just don’t forget the futuristic airbags if this ever makes it into production.
